There is now increasing recognition of the critical importance of the correct development of the normal flora of the newborn infant.

From having a sterile GI tract at birth, the newborn acquires microbial flora from the first day of life, and this flora is then responsible for a major part of the development of the entire infant immune system.  It is now acknowledged that imbalances in the flora of the newborn may significantly increase the risk of childhood allergy and susceptibility to infectious diseases.

Consequently, it is now seen as imperative that the infant has a competent composition of microflora from the first day of life and that this can be achieved by supplementation with probiotic organisms daily from birth.

HLC Neonate has been developed specifically for the child up to 12 months of age.  It contains HLC strain of Lactobacillus acidophilus together with Lactobacillus casei , which appear to be equally important in establishing the Lactobacillus dominance of the mucosal immune system of the upper intestine. HLC Neonate also contains Bifidobacterium infantis, which as its name suggests is the strain most suited to the new born infant for its small intestine immune system.

Recommended Intake:  Insert a finger into the bottle and press against the powder. Approximately 33 mg (1 billion viable cells) will naturally adhere to the finger end.  Allow the infant to suck the powder.  Repeat 3 times daily.  Alternatively, can be added to expressed breast milk or formula milk at a dosage of 100 mg per day.
